Glentworth House Nursing Home

Glentworth House Nursing Home is located in Central Hove close to Hove train station and local shopping facilities. The seafront is a short distance from the home and Hove Lagoon is situated approximately two miles West on the main A259. Pembroke Avenue is a quiet residential area of Hove.

There is a small parade of shops within walking distance and many local churches and halls to meet the religious needs of the community.

Glentworth House itself is a large home which caters for predominantly elderly nursing residents. The safety of our residents, their guests, our staff and outside providers is always paramount and hence the house has a modern fire detection and alarm system which covers every room and corridor. Wide hallways and a passenger lift provide access to all areas within the Home and access for wheelchair users. The lounge has views and access to the terrace and rear garden which is accessible through the conservatory.

The home provides nursing care for thirty three residents and all rooms having en-suite facilities. There are 21 single rooms and 6 shared rooms in total, all of which have en-suite facilities, the majority with the benefit of a wet room. Every room within the home is tastefully furnished and has a colour television and emergency nurse call system and individual heating controls.

We continually aim to provide a safe, secure and comfortable environment for all our residents. Help is given to maintain independence and mobility. Residents are cared for as individuals and are encouraged to live their lives to the full. Central to our philosophy is the belief in respect for the individual and our recognition that Glentworth House Nursing Home becomes their home.

We have created a bright cheerful environment, with full 24-hour supervision by trained and experienced staff. A registered nurse is on duty at all times. All areas enjoy easy access and a wide range of mobility aids are provided including specialist baths, hoists, grab rails and specially adapted equipment.

The qualified catering staff provide a varied and nutritious daily menu to a very high standard and are able to cater for special dietary needs, all meals being freshly produced that day. Guests are welcome to visit during meal times.

The scale of fees is based on the type of room occupied and level of care needed.

We currently have COVID restriction in place for visiting residents at Arundel Park Lodge which are subject to change without notice. All visitors must book an appointment in advance and are required to carry out a lateral flow test which must be registered before or on arrival. Exception to these current guidelines are at the discretion of the Manager and will be discussed with family and friends on a case by case basis.

Great care is taken when selecting our staff, the requirements being their ability and knowledge but also commitment; we complement this by our ongoing training programmes.

Glentworth House is a family run establishment; the Registered Manager is involved in the recruitment of all potential staff. They also directly involved with the admission of all new residents and their integration into the home.

Glentworth House does not show favour or treat one group of people less favourably due to their gender, marital status, age, disability, race, religion and culture.

A local GP provides this service and our residents are encouraged to register with the practice as they offer a weekly clinic to review residents changing needs. Residents are also supported to continue with their named practitioner if this is possible and within area.

In addition to the medical services above, the home receives regular visits from a Chiropodist, Hairdresser and other visiting services can be arranged to meet with the individual’s requirements.

This is carried out on the premises with the aid of modern laundry equipment. The cost of laundering residents’ clothing is included in the room fees with the exception of those items requiring dry cleaning.

The spiritual needs of our residents are also considered and visits from local clergymen and religious groups are encouraged. Newspapers can be delivered daily if a resident wishes to purchase these.

Please note that charges arising from hairdressing, dry-cleaning, newspapers, chiropody, dental, optical and other private services are not included in the room fees and will be charged for.
